STEALTHPROJEKT SHOWROOM – BY SOPHIE JOY WRIGHT

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

At the tail-end of fashion week, I visited the STEALTHPROJEKT showroom at EOF gallery, and saw a few collections that really impressed me.

Damaris Vrandecic

This Chilean designer who’s now based on the Mediterranean island of Menorca has created an interesting collection of footwear and accessories using elaborately treated skins and organic materials. Vrandecic’s collection is handmade exclusively on the island in collaboration with traditional craftsmen, where each of her pieces seem to have gained their own dark and twisted story, particularly those with the sea shells embedded in the leather like amoebae growing out from underneath the skin.

TVSCIA

TVSCIA is the ancient name for the area of present day Tuscany and Etruria, where designers Elisa Soldini and Lucia Padrini come from. Their womenswear label started in 2009, and for this season they have taken inspiration from Figurative art and Cubism to create a geometrically-cut collection of flowing silk pieces, named DUALITY. It explores beauty and imperfection by using intriguing but uncomplicated asymmetrical draping.

Sid Neigum

The main concept for Sid Neigum’s SS 2014 collection is the architecture of the industrial revolution. The Canadian designer used archived blueprints to create patterns, which he then laser-cut onto his silk and neoprene garments. This theme also influenced the often exposed and angular construction of the collection.

KOFTA

Since graduating from Central Saint Martins, Konstantin Kofta has been quietly building his namesake brand and is now into his eighth collection of accessories, named ROOTS. Konstantin’s haunted yet elegant bags and shoes are made with molded leather to depict his dark fascination with the biological underground.
